TELETHON
The University of Edinburgh, in common with a growing number of UK universities, runs regular telephone fundraising campaigns. Now in its seventh year, our twice-yearly Telethon is a well-established part of our annual fundraising programme.
Since 1998, over 3,000 former students contacted by telephone have contributed gifts and deeds of covenant amounting to over £1 million. These donations make a real difference to the academic and personal development of students and staff at the University and are channelled to a variety of projects supported by the Edinburgh Fund.
During each campaign, our student callers enjoy many rewarding and interesting conversations with thousands of former Edinburgh students. As well as raising funds, the Telethon provides an ideal opportunity for the University to keep in touch with our alumni and answer any questions they may have. Indeed, many graduates have contacted us to say how much they enjoyed speaking to current student about life at the University today.
In the coming years we aim to build on the success of previous campaigns, extending the University's long tradition of philanthropic support from its graduates. We greatly appreciate the support we receive from our alumni donors, whose generosity is testament to the deep affection they hold for the University.
