FILM WINS AWARD FOR DEVELOPMENT & ALUMNI

The film made for the launch of the University of Edinburgh Campaign in October 2006 has won a silver medal in the Circle of Excellence Awards from CASE (Council for the Advancement and Support of Education). The awards are international and there was stiff competition from some 40 other entries, many from US universities.
The film was made by Lion TV and directed by alumnus Tim Maguire. In order to secure a production of such quality within budget, Vice Principal for Development Young Dawkins turned to alumnus and head of All3Media Steve Morrison, who was able to support the film in kind.
The award was accepted by Director of Development Robert Fleming at the gala dinner of the annual CASE Europe conference in Edinburgh on Thursday 30th August. Said Fleming - “Our team at Development and Alumni worked shoulder to shoulder with the Lion TV team and Tim Maguire. It was hard work and very good fun and it’s wonderful to have that recognised by an international body such as CASE.”
The judges praised the film as “gutsy” describing it as “a compelling, and again well-integrated, statement of the goals of this largest capital campaign ever in Scottish higher education”. They went on to say – “This production represents an outstanding example of case stating via fundraising video. Furthermore, in carefully relating the video to the printed campaign case statement, those responsible for the campaign have leveraged a well-planned and consistent message across communication platforms.”
