ECCC secures £1.5 million funding

Back to the News page.

University researchers have won £1.5 million funding to help create a home for the Edinburgh Centre for Climate Change.

The award has been made by the European Regional Development Fund, with backing from the Scottish Government.

Funding will contribute towards the £10 million refurbishment of a building at High School Yards, at which the ECCC will be based.

The centre will involve experts from the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Napier University and Heriot-Watt University.

They will seek to bring together policy makers, business and civil leaders with experts in finance, law, management and urban design to help deliver the low-carbon industrial revolution.

Experts at the ECCC will aim to engineer interaction with industry and policy-makers, with a strong focus on commercialisation, knowledge sharing and executive education.

Skills training, in the form of short courses, will be delivered by the Centre.

These include executive education and continuing professional development as well as Masters courses.

Dr Andy Kerr, Director of the Centre, says:

This funding is a fantastic and welcome contribution towards creating a hub for the Edinburgh Centre on Climate Change. This will help realise our aim of equipping the next generation of industry leaders and opinion formers with innovative solutions and the skills to deliver a low-carbon future.
