Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies

Back to the Around the university page.

The Royal Dick School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh (The ‘Dick Vet’) has a vision is to build upon its proud history of excellence and become a world leader in veterinary education, research and practice.

The major expansion plans include uniting key facilities on the Dick Vet’s Easter Bush campus in Midlothian to represent the greatest critical mass of veterinary expertise in the world:

  • Building a new state-of-the-art teaching facility to train the veterinary professionals of the future
  • Creating a cancer and imaging centre, to advance our understanding of cancer in animals and to allow for imaging (CT scans) in both small animals and horses
  • Establishing an Easter Bush Research Centre – a research institute which, based alongside the cancer and imaging centre, will create a world centre for Biomedicine at Easter Bush
