Increasing levels of student debt are deterring students from accepting a place at Edinburgh and pushing them to either forego the opportunity of higher education or accepting a place at a local university within reach of their family home.
A comprehensive bursary and scholarship programme aims to provide talented students with the means to study at Edinburgh. The Scholarship Programme supports students whose personal or financial circumstances may otherwise prevent them from accepting a place at Edinburgh and can be a powerful incentive for such individuals to study here.
Lady Valerie Trotman, who supports bursaries, says:
I think that bursaries are such an important cause to support because quality education is so vital to the success and well-being of our present and future generations.
