The King’s Buildings Library project is the cornerstone of the University of Edinburgh’s strategy to equip our science and engineering graduates to make their mark on industry and science. It has the potential to transform the way scientists and engineers learn and develop, bringing added value to our teaching programmes throughout each of the seven disciplines across our science and engineering campus. The design and development of the King’s Buildings Library will:

  • Provide a focal point for students at the heart of the campus, allowing students and staff from a range of subject areas to exchange ideas in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Foster environments conducive to collaboration and interdisciplinary discovery, enriching the student experience
  • Feature a combination of informal, group and private study spaces, encouraging our students to work in ways which enhance their broader skill set
  • Provide the infrastructure and facilities needed to create the scientists and engineers of the future
